This two-day course is aimed at climbers who already have experience with trad multi-pitch climbing and want to build the skills to manage emergencies in complex terrain.
We'll cover fundamental concepts that you can use to scaffold in different situations. Tools in the tool belt that could be useful when things don't go as planned.

No Under 18's.
Comfortable lead trad climbing grade 16.
Comfortable building trad anchors.
Comfortable multi-pitch climbing using trad anchors.
(this is NOT a beginners course).
Escape the belay.
Raising a stuck climber
Ascend a rope.
Lowering/abseiling an injured climber.
Using tools provided to problem solve a complex scenario.
You must provide the below equipment:
Harness
Climbing helmet
Rock shoes
ATC type belay device (with guide mode)
Large locking biner
Personal safety/anchor chain
Short ( 1.3 to 1.4 metre total untied length )
Large (1.9 metres total untied length) prusik
120cm sewn sling
Additional locking carabiners x 4
Additional snap gates x 3
If possible:
Nut tool (if you have them)
Track rack (if you have them)
Alpine draws x 5 (if you have them)
Pulley, mico, tibloc, spoc etc (if you have them)
Cordelette (if you have them)
Equipment can be purchased at Aspiring Safety, Bivouac or Further Faster and all give NZAC members discounts.
$275 will cover two days of instruction at a 1:4 ratio by qualified, experienced Instructors and appropriate equipment.
